Synthesizer Attempt

In class, I tried several synthesizers. Among them, three left a deep impression on me: Korg Minilogue, ARP Odyssey, and Moog Matriarch. Here are some of my experiences using them:

  1. Korg Minilogue
This synthesizer has a clear panel and comes with an oscilloscope, which I think is very suitable for beginners like me. Its sound is my favorite among all the synthesizers I’ve tried. It can play four notes simultaneously and is good for playing chords and so on.
  2. ARP Odyssey
It has a very retro slider control interface and its sound is rather acidic and wild. However, it needs to be controlled by an external MIDI and its operation is rather complex, so I need to learn more about the principles of synthesizers to operate it.
  3. Moog Matriarch
This is a semi-modular synthesizer. It can produce sound without patching and can also expand its sound through patching. It is very suitable for those who want to learn modular synthesizers. Its sound is thick and has a sense of depth.
Besides, I also tried some modular synthesizers, but due to my insufficient basic knowledge, I couldn’t play them well. After class, I also tried VCV Rack and plan to start learning from software.
